Key Fobs

Many vehicles today use electronic key fobs to open their car doors and not traditional keys.
They control the central locking system on the vehicle so that it is not so easy for a thief to break into and steal the vehicle and all of its contents.
Key fobs may be a great innovation, but like many electronic devices they can fail just when you need them.
If your key fob has failed you and you live anywhere in Orange CA, then you should contact an experienced Orange Locksmith who can fix your key fob problem 24/7!
Maybe you are having problems closing or opening your doors and it is simply taking too long.
Perhaps the fob isn’t making the normal sound when you press a button. You may be finding the press button is not working at all, or when you shake it, you can hear a rattling sound.
Whatever your problem, you shouldn’t let it hold you up any longer. You need an experienced mobile Orange locksmith, who has all the tools of the trade to fix your fob.
The chip found inside the fob may need reprogramming, or the batteries might simply need replacing.
Orange Locksmith has the skilled tradesmen to replace faulty or damaged components that are found
on the circuit board, too.
In fact, their locksmiths know how to repair and replace any type of key fobs used today.
Very few other auto locksmiths have the skills needed to perform the full range of services that our technicians
are able to do.
As well as being used for car entry, key fobs are often used in apartment blocks and condos so that access can be gained to areas that are there for all to use. That includes lobby doors, car parks, storage areas, fitness rooms and swimming pools.
Whatever you use your key fob for, you can rely on our technicians to come and fix it when your device lets you down.
How Do Key Fobs Work?
The earliest kinds of electric key fobs worked using an infrared signal.
They needed an unobstructed line-of-sight in order to work.
These earliest devices weren’t foolproof as crooks found they could copy them easily.
Later models that are more in use today work with what is called “challenge-response authentication”.
This may be a bit of a mouthful, but basically makes them much more difficult to duplicate. Another good thing is they do not need a line-of-sight to work.
These remote devices need to be programmed first with a special diagnostic tool.
You can either do the programming yourself or get one of our technicians to do it for you. The programming can be done by following some simple steps in the vehicle, but normally needs the minimum of one functioning key.
Most users find modern key fobs very useful devices as they offer a greater sense of security when leaving the car in a garage or public parking lot either by day or night.
Key fobs are great, but they’re not entirely foolproof! When they go wrong it’s always when you least expect it.
